ZoffanyFounded in 1983 as a specialist wallpaper company, Zoffany’s first collection was based on the reproduction of historic wallcoverings from Temple Newsam, a Tudor-Jacobean country house in Leeds, Yorkshire. After studying document fragments, the Zoffany team set about meticulously recreating these designs, producing wallpapers that gave the impression of having been in situ for many years.
The success of the Temple Newsam collection and subsequent ranges led to Zoffany becoming recognised as one of the UK’s foremost wallpaper companies. The same exacting principles were subsequently applied to fabrics, trimmings and paint as the company extended its product portfolio. The company is also renowned for its archive of original documents mostly from the 17th and 18th centuries which includes rich weaves, luxurious velvets and opulent wallcoverings, painstakingly assembled from around the world via auctions and donations from customers.
